Athenry FC had another excellent season with our first Connacht cup ever and the B team followed up last seasons triumph with another league title.
Our under 14's went down to the home of Castlebar Celtic and came back with the trophy courtesy of a 1-0 win with Joey Burke getting the winner. Connacht Under 14 Champions 2005
Athenry B had another huge season winning the league again to move up to Division 2A. They again did it the hard way in a play off. They were 2-0 down but came back to win 4-2 against West United B. Wayne Finn (2), Gary Coffey (super goal) and David Glynn scored. Some joyous celebrations followed. That's what sport is all about.

The club also had an excellent awards night in the Raheen Woods Hotel with both Juvenile and Senior player of the year awards. Medals were also presented to the under 14 Connacht champions and the league winning B team.
The A and B team met in the Michael O' Byrne cup for the second year in a row with the A team coming out on top on this occasion, with the B 's having taken the honours last year.
Athenry FC had an historic year winning a record 6 trophies. Our Senior team won a a fantastic treble of Connacht Cup, Premier league, and Michael O' Byrne cup. Our B team won the Reserve legue. Our under 16's won the first Division and our 13's won the premier cup.
